Below is the <a href="https://www.bakerlaw.com/FederalPolicy">Federal Policy</a> team’s weekly preview, published each Monday that Congress is in session.

HEADLINES
• President Donald Trump on Wednesday will hold a rally in Duluth, Minnesota.
• The House plans again to take up several bills aimed at addressing the opioid crisis, and merge them into one; votes are also likely on immigration-related legislation.
• The Senate plans to finish work on the annual policy reauthorization for the Defense Department, and then proceed to appropriations bills.


HOUSE
<ul>
 	<li>The House plans to vote Tuesday through Friday. The <a href="https://www.majorityleader.gov/weekly-schedule/">legislative agenda</a> includes several bills addressing opioid abuse, which will eventually be consolidated into a single bill to send to the Senate.</li>
 	<li>Lawmakers expect to take up legislation on border security and immigration, including both a conservative-backed bill sponsored by Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., and a compromise bill negotiated by leadership. The Goodlatte bill is likely to fail; the compromise measure appears tenuous especially after Trump said Friday he would not sign it – only to have White House staff later walk back his comments.</li>
 	<li>The Oversight Committee and Judiciary Committee on Tuesday will hold a <a href="https://oversight.house.gov/hearing/oversight-of-the-fbi-and-doj-actions-in-advance-of-the-2016-election/">joint hearing</a> scrutinizing FBI and Justice Department actions in advance of the 2016 election.</li>
 	<li>The Appropriations Committee and Foreign Affairs Committee both have busy weeks – the latter <a href="https://foreignaffairs.house.gov/press-release/a-look-ahead-june-18-22/">holding</a> a full committee hearing on Afghanistan and subcommittee hearings on last week’s Trump-Kim summit in Singapore as well as Russian and Chinese nuclear arsenals.</li>

SENATE
<ul>
 	<li>The Senate plans to be in session throughout the week, and <a href="https://www.senate.gov/legislative/calendars.htm">will vote</a> on the National Defense Authorization Act. Three Appropriations bills will follow: Military Construction and Veterans Affairs, Energy and Water, and the Legislative Branch. The farm bill is next on the agenda, likely next week.</li>
 	<li>The Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee <a href="https://www.help.senate.gov/hearings/effective-administration-of-the-340b-drug-pricing-program">will examine</a> the 340B Drug Pricing Program, while the Homeland Security and Government Reform Committee will <a href="https://www.hsgac.senate.gov/hearings/medicaid-fraud-and-overpayments-problems-and-solutions">hold a hearing</a> on Medicaid fraud.</li>
 	<li>Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross <a href="https://www.finance.senate.gov/hearings/current-and-proposed-tariff-actions-administered-by-the-department-of-commerce">will testify</a> at the Finance Committee regarding the administration’s current and proposed tariffs.</li>

</ul>
WHITE HOUSE
<ul>
 	<li>President Trump on Tuesday will host the king and queen of Spain at the White House, and later will speak to House Republicans on immigration.</li>
 	<li>On Wednesday, he will travel to Duluth, Minnesota, for a political rally.</li>
 	<li>Thursday he will meet with his full cabinet and, separately, with Defense Secretary Jim Mattis; later he’ll host the annual Congressional Picnic.</li>
</ul>
