The Weekly Hill Update

Below is this week’s congressional update by BakerHostetler’s Federal Policy team. We’ll continue to post in weeks when both chambers of Congress are in session.

HEADLINES

• Republicans are working to finalize their reconciliation bill to fund immigration enforcement before next week’s Memorial Day recess.
• Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy headlines the administration officials appearing on Capitol Hill this week.
• BakerHostetler’s 37th Annual Legislative Seminar is this Wednesday; we hope to see you there!

HOUSE

• After a schedule change, the House will hold floor votes Wednesday through Friday.
• Wednesday, the Education and Workforce Subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions will hold a hearing titled “Bad Medicine: Politics, Unions, and Antisemitism in Health Care.”
• Duffy will appear before the Appropriations Committee Thursday.

SENATE

• The Senate will vote on a slate of President Donald Trump’s nominees, and plans to begin voting on the reconciliation bill Thursday.
• Duffy is scheduled to appear before the Appropriations Committee tomorrow, among several administration officials testifying this week in budget hearings.
• Also tomorrow, the Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee will hold a hearing on the response to last year’s Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport crash with Federal Aviation Administration Administrator Bryan Bedford.

WHITE HOUSE

• Trump has a healthcare affordability event scheduled this afternoon at the White House.
• Tomorrow, Trump plans to hold a Situation Room meeting with his national security advisors to discuss military options in Iran.
• Wednesday, Trump will travel to Connecticut to deliver the keynote address at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.
