Congress faces a Friday deadline to finish funding the government for fiscal year 2024 and prevent a partial shutdown, with the White House and congressional Republicans still <a href="https://www.politico.com/live-updates/2024/03/18/congress/government-spending-shutdown-appropriations-dhs-funding-fix-00147533">haggling</a> over border security funding.

The House will be in <a href="https://www.majorityleader.gov/schedule/weekly-schedule.htm">session</a> tomorrow through Friday, taking up energy policy <a href="https://rules.house.gov/news/announcement/meeting-announcement-march-19-2024">legislation</a> and attempting to complete fiscal year 2024 appropriations bills.

House budget hearings this week include <a href="https://appropriations.house.gov/legislation/hearings/fiscal-year-2025-budget-request-department-health-and-human-services">Health and Human Services</a> Secretary Xavier Becerra, <a href="https://appropriations.house.gov/legislation/hearings/fiscal-year-2025-budget-request-department-energy">Energy</a> Secretary Jennifer Granholm, and <a href="https://appropriations.house.gov/legislation/hearings/fiscal-year-2025-budget-request-department-agriculture">Agriculture</a> Secretary Thomas Vilsack.

The Foreign Affairs Committee on Thursday will hold a <a href="https://foreignaffairs.house.gov/hearing/countering-china-on-the-world-stage-empowering-american-businesses-and-denying-chinese-military-our-technology/">hearing</a> with State Department officials regarding empowering American businesses to counter China economically.

The Senate will also be in <a href="https://www.senate.gov/legislative/floor_activity_pail.htm">session</a> tomorrow through Friday, voting on judicial nominees and aiming to take up funding legislation after House action.

Senate budget hearings feature <a href="https://www.finance.senate.gov/hearings/hearing-on-the-presidents-fiscal-year-2025-budget">Treasury</a> Secretary Janet Yellen, <a href="https://www.sbc.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/hearings?ID=5ECDC72C-235F-40BE-B8D9-AA157033EA5D">Small Business</a> Administrator&nbsp;Isabel Casillas Guzman, and Commissioner Martin O’Malley of the <a href="https://www.aging.senate.gov/hearings/keeping-our-promise-to-older-adults-and-people-with-disabilities-the-status-of-social-security-today">Social Security Administration</a>.

Thursday, the Senate Commerce Committee will hold a <a href="https://www.commerce.senate.gov/2024/3/spectrum-and-national-security">hearing</a> on spectrum policy and national security.

Biden will travel to <a href="https://news3lv.com/news/local/president-joe-biden-plans-latest-visit-to-nevada-with-stops-in-las-vegas-reno-politics-election-white-house-democratic-party-march-2024-donald-trump-gop">Nevada</a> tomorrow for campaign events in Reno and Las Vegas.

Wednesday, he will be in <a href="https://www.azcentral.com/story/news/politics/arizona/2024/03/14/president-joe-biden-to-visit-phoenix-on-tuesday-and-wednesday/72964602007/">Phoenix</a>, continuing his visits to states that will be crucial to his reelection.

The president will finish the week in <a href="https://www.houstonchronicle.com/politics/election/2024/article/joe-biden-texas-trip-19180452.php">Texas</a>, with visits to Houston and Dallas.
