Congress is racing to pass <a href="https://docs.house.gov/billsthisweek/20230529/BILLS-118hrPIH-fiscalresponsibility.pdf">legislation</a> to raise the debt limit and prevent a default, after House Republicans and the White House clinched an agreement Saturday night following intense negotiations.

The congressional hearing schedule is relatively light, as the House was originally scheduled to be in recess this week.

The House will <a href="https://www.majorityleader.gov/schedule/weekly-schedule.htm">vote</a> tonight on noncontroversial financial services legislation, taking up the Fiscal Responsibility Act tomorrow before departing for the originally scheduled recess.

The Senate will begin its <a href="https://www.senate.gov/legislative/floor_activity_pail.htm">week</a> with votes on judicial nominees before taking up the debt limit bill late in the week.

The Senate Banking Committee tomorrow will hold a <a href="https://www.banking.senate.gov/hearings/countering-china-advancing-us-national-security-economic-security-and-foreign-policy">hearing</a> on countering China, with senior officials from the Treasury and Commerce departments.

The Energy and Natural Resources Committee will hold a <a href="https://www.energy.senate.gov/hearings/2023/6/full-committee-hearing-to-examine-the-reliability-and-resiliency-of-electric-services-in-the-u-s-in-light-of-recent-reliability-assessments-and-alerts">hearing</a> Thursday on electric reliability.

The White House will be <a href="https://punchbowl.news/archive/53023-punchbowl-news-am/">working</a> throughout the week to ensure Democratic support for President Joe Biden’s debt limit deal.

Biden will travel to Colorado to deliver the <a href="https://www.airforcetimes.com/news/your-air-force/2023/05/06/president-biden-to-deliver-commencement-address-at-air-force-academy/">commencement</a> address at the United States Air Force Academy on Thursday.

Friday, Biden will attend the <a href="https://www.barracks.marines.mil/Parades/Friday-Evening-Parade-Schedule-Reservation/">Friday Evening Parade</a> at Marine Barracks Washington.
